A lustrous grey metal known since ancient times. Found in nature mainly as the sulphide mineral stibnite (Sb2S3).

Forms Supplied

Pure metal:

  • Antimony trichloride (SbCl3)

Typical Applications

  • III/V-semiconductors, indium antimonide (InSb) and gallium antimonide (GaSb).

  • Hall sensors and high-sensitivity infrared detectors.

  • Dopant for n-conducting silicon single crystal semiconductors.

  • Molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) source material.

  • Antimony trichloride is an organic precursor compound for metalorganic chemical vapour deposition (MOCVD).
